If I go through the Primary Recruitment process am I guaranteed a bid?

The formal recruitment process is a mutual selection process designed to allow both PNMs and chapters to find the best fit. Not everyone who goes through the primary recruitment process is guaranteed to find a match. If a PNM is not offered a bid at the conclusion of primary recruitment, they are encouraged to consider continuous open bidding or explore other organizations to become involved on campus.

Can I join the Panhellenic community after my first year?

Yes! It is common for upperclassmen and transfer students to participate in primary recruitment following their first-year at Butler.

What is Butler’s hazing policy?

Hazing is illegal in the state of Indiana and is not tolerated by Butler Panhellenic. The act of hazing goes against the values held by our Panhellenic community. To report hazing on Butler University’s campus please utilize the Butler Hazing Reporting Form located in the “Resources” tab.

Am I required to live in my organization’s chapter house?

All of the Panhellenic organizations at Butler University have different live-in policies. At this time, all Panhellenic organizations at Butler have chapter houses which count towards the university’s three year on-campus living requirement. Chapter facilities are typically less expensive than university housing, but prices vary depending on the organization. Many chapters have a live-in requirement ranging from one year to two years, however, some organizations do not require that members live-in. The best way to learn more about these live-in policies is to ask current members of each chapter.

How much does joining a sorority cost?

The cost of going through primary recruitment is $48. The membership fees for each individual chapter varies.
